Subject: Complaint Regarding Repeated Upper Berth Allotment despite Availability –
Complaint Description
To The Concerned Authority Indian Railways Subject: Complaint Regarding Repeated Upper Berth Allotment despite Availability – . PNR 6465054629 Respected Sir/Madam, I wish to formally lodge a complaint regarding incorrect and unfair berth allotment experienced repeatedly while booking railway tickets through the redRail application. For the ticket booked under PNR: 6465054629, the booking was made when the application was clearly showing 100+ seats available in the selected class. The ticket status was confirmed, yet both passengers were allotted Upper Berths (UB). The passengers are two women, one them my mother Smt. Swapna Dasgupta (Datta) aged 66+ years (senior citizen) and my wife Smt. Mitra Rani Das (Datta) 42+ years respectively. Despite the senior citizen status and confirmed ticket with high availability, no Lower Berth (LB) or Side Lower Berth (SL) was allotted. This causes serious inconvenience, especially for elderly passengers, and raises concerns about passenger safety and comfort. I would also like to highlight that this is not an isolated incident. This issue has occurred repeatedly in past bookings as well — tickets get confirmed, but berths are almost always allotted as Middle or Upper Berths, never Lower or Side Lower, even when availability is shown as high at the time of booking. This repeated discrepancy strongly suggests either: 1. Misleading display of berth availability on the booking platform, or 2. Improper or biased berth allocation logic that ignores age, gender, and passenger convenience. Passengers rely on the accuracy of information shown during booking. Such repeated experiences create loss of trust and give an impression of unfair or deceptive practices. I kindly request the Railway Authorities to: • Investigate this matter for the above-mentioned PNR • Review berth allotment rules for senior citizens and women passengers • Ensure accurate, transparent, and fair berth allocation across all authorized booking platforms. • Take corrective action to prevent recurrence I request your urgent intervention and appropriate redressal in the interest of passenger convenience and dignity. Thanking you. Yours sincerely, (Santi Bhusan Datta) . Tripura, India
